Harvard Herbaria

The Harvard University Herbaria are among some several thousand collections of pressed, dried plant specimens worldwide that are used by researchers to further our understanding of the plant world.  

The Farlow Herbarium, within the Harvard University Herbaria, houses approximately 1.4 million specimens from all over the world, including approximately 75,000 types, of lichenized and non-lichenized fungi, bryophytes, diatoms and algae.  

Friends of the Farlow  Founded in 1980, The Friends of the Farlow is an international group of amateurs and professionals interested in cryptogamic botany who support maintenance of the excellence of the Farlow's collections, fulfillment of its research and educational objectives, and access to its resources.
